Hard Yam

Yams are perennial herbaceous vines cultivated for the consumption of their starchy tubers in many temperate and tropical world regions.

Hard Yam is the common name for some plant species in the genus Dioscorea that form harder edible tubers.

The edible tuber has a rough light brown skin difficult to peel, but softens after heating. The majority of the vegetable is composed of a hard white substance known as the “meat”.
